Part 1 extract 1: two friends talk about a morning picking strawberries at a farm

Synthetic practice recording. This is not official exam audio.

Read listening script

Narrator: You hear two friends talking about a morning they spent picking fruit at a farm. Boy: My back's still aching. I'd never picked strawberries before. Girl: Well, they do grow right down on the ground. What did you expect, trees? Boy: Ha ha. I did think picking them ourselves would make them cheap, though. They cost more than in the supermarket. Girl: Only because you filled the basket to the top, and ate half of it on the way to the scales! No, what I hadn't expected was how quickly they'd go soft. By the time I got home, the bottom ones were practically juice.
