Part 1 extract 1: two friends talk about a friend who keeps cancelling plans

Synthetic practice recording. This is not official exam audio.

Read listening script

Narrator: You hear two friends talking about another friend, Leo. Girl: Leo's cancelled again. That's the third time this month, and he only told us an hour before. Boy: I know. Honestly, I was going to stop inviting him. Girl: I thought about that too. But then he'd just drift away, and I don't want to lose him. Boy: No. Maybe something's going on at home that he hasn't mentioned. Girl: Maybe, but guessing won't help. We should just ask him, kindly, why it keeps happening. Boy: You're right. Let's catch him after school tomorrow and talk to him properly.
