Part 1 extract 1: two neighbours talk about a lawn left to grow wild

Synthetic practice recording. This is not official exam audio.

Read listening script

Narrator: You hear two neighbours talking about a garden. Woman: Your front lawn's looking a bit... relaxed these days, Tom. Man: Ha! It's deliberate, believe it or not. My daughter did a school project on bees, and she made me promise not to cut the grass until July. Woman: Honestly, I was about to ask if your mower had broken. Although, now you mention it, there were loads of butterflies on it yesterday. Man: I know. I was sure I'd hate how untidy it looked, but I actually find myself going out every morning to see what's come up. There's a purple flower out there now that I can't even name. Woman: Well, don't expect me to do the same. Mine's the only bit of grass the kids can play football on. Man: Fair enough. But if you ever change your mind, I've got plenty of seeds.
